Word Problems
I have provided a few word problems that you can work on with your child. If they are having trouble, go over the strategies with them and see if it makes any difference. Every child learns in different ways, so what works and helps one child, might not help another. It's a trial and error process to figure out what works, so just hang in there with your child and keep trying!
1. Rectangle A is 2 times as long as Rectangle B. Rectangle B has a side of 10 cm. How long is rectangle A's side?
2. A square has an area of 16 square centimeters. What is the length of each of its sides?
3. I'm thinking of a 3 sided shape, with the one angle being a right angle. What shape am I?
* There are endless possibilities of word problems that you can make up with your child. These three problems or just examples.
